Nation description: Chuuktaan, officially the Republic of Chuuktaan (Yukdip: 國民閥韶; Chuuktan Minkok) is a country in Bangju. It borders Kinshu, Basanreseri, and Chuvan to the south, Sakushi and Chauchu to the northeast, and Piche to the east, and faces the Great Northern Ocean to the north.
Humans first migrated to what is now Chuuktaan in 4500 BCE, from northern Jungju as well as the Fusenese Archipelago. A second wave of migration in 4200 BCE brought humans from parts of South Jungju to the region. However, the majority of prehistoric Chuuksugu was dominated by Lygoravetlan peoples.
The first Chuuktaanese state was founded around 200 BCE, as a union of several tribes. As the tribal confederacy expanded, incorporating many different peoples, disputes between tribes caused the confederacy to break apart into three. In 677 CE, the northernmost tribe entered a period of technological innovation, which led them to dominate the region. They developed sea travel, and explored some of northern Bangju. In 789, the northernmost tribe founded the First Imperial Dynasty (히꾼헤넹 nennxekunhi).
The First Imperial Dynasty, or Nennxe, expanded into what is now Central Chuuktaan, and encountered migrating Aeyuic tribes. Aeyuans were pushed further south into what is now Basanreseri. However, in addition to conflict with the migrating Aeyuan tribes, northerners from Taniilux regularly raided the coast. Some Dangu tribes set up permanent settlements in the northernmost region of Nennxe, the descendants of these settlers are the
In an attempt to stop the constant raids, Nennxe heavily fortified its coast, however Dangu tribes started raiding inland Chuuktaan. The mass-migration of Fusenese women, and subsequent intermixing with the native Chuuktaan population further spread Sinjuan ideas and culture throughout the country. In 1103, after decades of increased poverty and starvation, and government corruption, the Five Pennon Rebellion, lead by general Sangi Kehan, brought the collapse of the First Imperial Dynasty and the establishment of the Osat Dynasty (惺大; 1103–1500).
The Osat Dynasty is largely known for its “Age of Enlightenment” (代悟大), which saw the large-scale adoption of Sinjuan culture, predominantly Fusenese, within the higher rungs of society, and eventually by the rest of the country. Some of these changes included the development of Cheonjo-Chuuktaanese speech (based on Cheonjo-Fusenese/Sino-Japanese), adoption of Sinjuan fashion and architecture, amongst others. In the 1400s, a noble clan gained massive power and influence in the court and in 1500 overthrew the old house and founded the Great Chuuktaan/Kus Dynasty.
The Kus Dynasty became a tributary of Fusen in 1570 and served as a key ally/partner in the region. It sided with Fusen in the Bonghwang Wars. It was also one of the first nations in Bangju to industrialize. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a wave of republicanism swept across the nation and in 1910, the State of Chuuktaan was founded. During the Great Eulhae War, Chuuktaan took the side of the Contingents. In the Bangju theater, Chuuktaan launched a 1939 invasion of some of its neighboring states, including Basanreseri. In 1941, it briefly captured most of Basanreseri and attempted an assassination of its monarchy.
After the Eulhae War, Chuuktaan was forced to conceed most of the territory it had annexed during the conflict, except for the Umukki Panhandle (豭頯條), which is still largely contested by its neighboring state just below it. From the 1940s to the 1960s, Chuuktaan’s government took part in the wave of fascism, though turned to a more democratic system in the mid-1960s and founded the current republic.
Today, Chuuktaan is a developed nation that is part of the Congress of Nations (admitted 1969) and the Sinju Union (admitted 1996).**
