Nation description: Tetyrlan (Tetyrish: ᛏᛖᛏᛁᚱᛚᚪᚾ Tetyrlân Ryk), also known as Songgoek (惺國 seongguk), is a country in West Yoju. It is bordered by Sora to the west and Burgandie to the east and south, and faces the Mulberry Ocean to the north. It has a population of 27 million.
Tetyrlan is based on the real-world culture of the Frisians, a Germanic people native to Northwest Europe. It’s name, Tetyrlân, is derived from the Old Norse teitr [“serene”; confer with Old English tāt or Proto-Germanic taitaz] with the added suffix lân [land], so the endonym means “serene land”.
Prior to contemporary times, Tetyrlan was a region of Sora home to Germanic peoples, and was later part of Jeongmian Sora. Following the end of the Eulhae War, Tetyrlan split from Sora in 1948. After four years of civil war, the current Tetyrish state was established in 1952. It was governed by a vehemently anti-Sinjuist dictatorship until the 1980s, after which it began transitioning to a more democratic state.
Today, Tetyrlan still has a fairly corrupt government. Its main economic sectors are agriculture, textiles, and mining.
